Well, that was successful... not.
Apr. 18th, 2005 05:59 pmI have a new computer. I am inordinately proud of it, it is an HP Pentium 4 with Media Center (note the spelling, which is confusing for us aussies) and is supposed to be able to tape from TV to dvd.
So there I was last night, taping (supposedly) CSI and then NCIS. Even remembered to check at 9.30pm to change the channel. Checked it again at 10.30pm to see if it was finished. The picture stuttered something terible, which immediately scared me. Then I remembered. Both HP (not Harry Potter) and
ts5000 told me that anything on the hard drive (including the TV apparently) will make the picture jump. So the munchkin closes everything down, reboots the computer, and reopens Media Center. And there, playing before my astonished eyes, was a perfect copy of CSI - all 26 minutes of it. It would have helped if I had remembered to set a stop time for the recording, thereby avoiding an automatic 9pm shut-off. Curses, foiled by technology again!
And what was I doing while all this supposed recording was going on? Watching Yellowstone National Park destroy the world...
And no, Tess, I haven't forgotten that I have to finishd Lichien so that I can review it! Promise...
