The new James Bond...

Well, this is going to get me in trouble with my fellow Highlander fans, for sure... :)

I have been watching Showtime's Movie News on Foxtel, and they have been on the set of the new Bond flick, Casino Royale. And, I must say, I like the look of this new Bond. At this rate, I may be asked to hand back my Highlander fan membership.

A litle history, here. I have never been a fan of the Bond movies. I don't think I have seen one on the big screen (I think the Roger Moore experience was actually a nightmare *veg*), and the parade of new Bond men just did nothing for me... even 'though I liked Sean Connery and Timothy Dalton in other things, and Pierce Brosnan was sooo sooo pretty...

I found Bond through the original source material - the books. And I read all of the Ian Fleming books more than 20 years ago. Right from the start, Sean Connery simply wasn't Bond, to me. And as successive Bond's were based loosely on the Connery model, none of the movies felt right.

An interview with one of the new leading ladies hit it right on the head for me. This Bond is rougher. My Bond always was. I didn't want him to turn into a suave, cool, calm killer; I wanted him to turn into a machine.

From what I see of Daniel Craig so far, he has it in the eyes. At this rate, I may actually get to see a Bond on the big screen after all!! :)
