Well, that wasn't fun, even if I must say so...

I was woken at 8am this morning (don't laugh, I'm retired) by the alarm on my VPAP machine. Not my alarm clock, which was set for 9.30am (stop laughing, this is serious).

Why did my VPAP machine alarm go off - thereby giving me a near heart attack - I hear you ask?

Because the bloody builders had accidentally cut the power to the villas! At 8am! I ask you!

A little history, here. I live in a retirement village. A little one, with 15 villas and a 50 bed nursing home. Finally, after nearly 7 years, the owners have figured out what they're doing with the vacant land behind villas 10-14. An extension of the nursing home. 20 more beds. We were warned to expect some disruptions for the next 6 months or so, but really, accidentally cutting the power only one month in doesn't bode well.

So, all day, people have been asking me how I'm doing without the computer. You know what? I coped. Barely.

Know what I really missed? The kettle. No coffee. The power came back on again half an hour ago (4.55pm). It has been one of the longest days of my life...

*hugs kettle*

*hugs heater too, for good measure, as it has been blowing a gale all day*

But tomorrow looks good. We are having the 'welcome the new villa residents' bbq that was scheduled for today, but cancelled due to no power. I never expected, when I moved in here, that one of the unintended fringe benefits of living in a retirement village is that the ladies are just looking for an excuse to cook up a storm... *happy sigh*

*goes back to hugging kettle*

So how was everyone else's day?
